The "Entering the Mind of the Joker" Symposium, organized by the EMSA Samsun Medical Science Pillar on March 1, 2025, aimed to address the human mind through an interdisciplinary perspective by bringing together psychiatry and neuroscience with cinematic and literary narratives. In the sessions held throughout the day, not only was the psychological analysis of a movie character conducted, but also the societal perception of psychiatric illnesses, current developments in mental health, and neuroscientific approaches were discussed on a scientific basis.

Presentations and discussions conducted over titles such as empathy, trauma, neurochemical processes, and social factors increased both the academic knowledge and professional awareness of the participants. The symposium created an interactive learning environment that encouraged scientific curiosity, where students actively contributed through oral presentations, and productivity was supported by rewarding successful presentations.

We would like to thank all our speakers for their academic contributions, the Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, and all the Medical Science Pillar team, especially the 24-25 Term Medical Science Pillar Co-Directors Deniz Koç and Ulaş Yüksel, who contributed to the realization of the symposium.
